Dear Parents and Players,
I would like to take this opportunity following the recent announcement to just put this message out in respect of Ilkeston Outlaws Basketball Club. Please be assured that we are trying to get back to training as soon as it is safe to do so. Yesterday (19th Dec) proves to all that we are no way through this pandemic yet and we need to keep following the guidance as a responsible group for the safety of us all and our extended families.
As you are aware at present Ilkeston Basketball Club does not have access to our normal training venues due to the COVID pandemic as they are closed to public access.
To be honest I am not expecting this situation to change in the New Year or potentially until at least March. Be assured we are not the only club in this predicament as it is being experienced by a large number of clubs across the country.
I would rather us be able to train safely when we are able too, than rush back when it is still debatable if it is safe to do so. I do not intend putting players and coaches at risk from this awful virus. I say this with informed knowledge having had a number of my officers and support staff at work go off with the virus and be hospitalised, not forgetting Coach Ura who was really badly affected with the virus as well.
We are a club that has been in existence since 1966 (yes even older than me), we will get through this situation and come out of it the other end stronger and able to build again. I really hope that we can get back to training and playing soon..
I would like to take this opportunity on behalf of all the coaching staff and committee to wish you all a very Merry Christmas and I hope a Happy New Year.
