The Ilkeston Outlaws Senior Women are ready to start their 2017 season.

Training all the time throughout the summer continuously, the women have been hard at work refining their plays and individual skill to help build on their silver medal from the Maid Marian Cup last season.

Returning as head coach for his 49th year is long-time women’s coach Paul Booth, who this year will be assisted by last year’s senior women’s coaches player Sharon Hickson, who will be both playing and coaching for the blue and white this season.

The Outlaws have had one new addition to the team this year as newcomer Ada Lo will be suiting up for the blue and white. Originally from Hong Kong, Ada has been training throughout the summer with the team and has already started to make an impression.

Our newest player Ada has slotted into the team very well throughout the summer and promises to be a great asset. Having just finished at Cambridge Uni she brings both speed and smarts to the game. Something we will definitely look to utilize. – Coach Paul Booth

Returning to the team for the 2017-18 season is Becci Carter, who took an absence last year for the birth of her first child, Niamh. Becci will slot back into her old spot as starting point guard and hope to help drive the team forward.

Having Becci back with new-mum status is tremendous for the team for both her leadership on and off the court as well as her commitment to the team. She looks like she has never been away and has fit back into this squad perfectly. – Coach Paul Booth

The Outlaws team will also include an increased influence of younger players. Who originally came up through the Outlaws junior ranks. Last years junior MVP Charlotte Sinecola and Coaches player Libby Mellor will see increased roles within the team. In addition to this, long-time junior player Zara Lee has been training throughout the summer with the junior men in the mixed Thursday sessions as well as returning junior players-player Jess Shepherd and defensive player Georgia Noon.

All of the juniors within the team have been improving week-in week-out. We have high hopes that the 5 juniors will really step up to the plate and bridge the gap this season in the Maid Marian League. – Coach Paul Booth
